Inflammation and Human Health

Science programme: Human health and performance

This research aims to understand the health benefits of fruit and its extracts with particular emphasis on anti-stress, anti-oxidant, and immune modulatory pathways. The programme combines innovative in vitro, in vivo, and biosensor technologies to measure molecular and biochemical changes and the impact of fruit and fruit extracts. This knowledge will be utilised for fruit breeding programmes and for the development of functional health and wellness foods based on robust scientific health claims. Key targets are lung and muscle health in disease.
